I did it! I graduated!!!

Cover Letters: I Don't Do Them

I've always maintained that you never know where you'll be a week from today. Tomorrow, even. For me, I feel like life has silly ways of inspiring us to dream. Ways that make us think what if?

I'm walking through Kroger today and I pass this GQ magazine and my jaw drops. No, it isn't because it's Zac Efron on the cover. Not solely because Zac Efron is on the cover ;) I picked up the magazine and checked out the other pictures taken by Peggy Sirota I came home to check out her website and was so, so inspired. What if? I wrote a quick email to her that I wanted to share with you guys. Will she email me back? Will anything really come out of this? Maybe not. But truthfully, you never know until you try.

 

Hi Peggy,

I've been trying to think of some clever way to catch your eye right off the bat as I'm sure you have a very full inbox. I've never been that clever of a writer. So I'll just safely resort to what I do best. I'll be ME!

Funny how life works, actually. I make a trip to Kroger today, pass the latest issue of GQ, and now I'm writing you this. You see, I'm 22 and about to graduate from college in two shorts weeks. While I know I'm closing a chapter of my life soon, I can't help but feel like the world is truly at my feet now. The possibilities are endless. Dive in.

Peggy, I want you to know that I think your work is phenomenal. Last summer, I started my own photography business and I'm loving every minute of it. I've only barely dipped my toes in the water though. I'm always looking for more opportunities to learn and grow as a photographer.

Why am I writing you this? Well because if you ever needed help at a shoot, I'd book a flight out to the west coast in a heartbeat to be your man (but really, girl) I'd love to learn a thing or two from you.

Thank you for the inspiration. And thank you, dear god thank you to the moon and back, for those money shots of Zac Efron. Straight up eye candy.

It's too bad I don't see these girls more often, because they can seriously rock it out in front of my camera!  I've literally been waiting for months to photograph these guys.  For those who don't know, Riley and Chloe are my godmom Colleen's two girls.  Since they live in DC, I don't get to see them nearly as much as I'd like. So when they came into town for Easter you already knooooow I was on top of that! Col - these have been a long time coming. I hope you love them. I, well I'm a bit obsessed with them and SO excited for you to see them ☺ Love you 3 (and Chris too!) to the moon and back times infinity.

It's moments like these that make me fall in love with photography all over again. This is totally one of those moments where I saw it as I was playing back through the images on my camera and literally got the chills. I won't lie, I'm so proud of this. Helloooo happiness overload!!! ☺
